Welcome to Camp letter and packing list found HERE

For children entering grades 3-5 in fall 2021

At the end of a summer day, if a child isn’t dirty, there is something missing! Dirt is teeming with life, and is often the sign of a good time. In this camp we will dig into underground ecosystems - exploring different habitats to discover who and what is underfoot. We will investigate different kinds of soil we have in the park and, of course, play in the mud!

Naturalist in Charge: Tania Gale

LocationFlag Ponds Nature Park

Marvelous Mud "Welcome to Camp!" letter and packing list can be found here in June.

Fee per camper:

Society members: $150
Nonmembers:  $180

COVID Policies and Procedures

The Calvert Nature Society has developed policies and procedures for public program operations based on state and CDC guidelines.

These policies are effective until otherwise rescinded:

  • All participants over the age of 2 (including parents) must wear a mask when social distancing is not possible. Participants must provide their own masks.
  • Please consider the safety, health, and well-being of all participants in our programs and stay home if the participant is ill. Full refunds will be given for cancellations due to health concerns.
  • Prior to participation in any Society sponsored program,  we will ask each individual, to if under 18 a parent, to complete a participant waiver.

Please download and complete the waiver prior to the program. You may complete it online and email to CypressSwamp@CalvertCountyMD.gov, or print it and bring to the program.

The waiver needs to be completed for each in-person program.

Please read our full policy statement and waiver.

Registration Opening Dates

Programs have staggered registration dates. We advertise programs before registration opens which is why you may see that registration is closed, yet there are spaces available.  See details >

The schedule of events is subject to changed based on the status of the coronavirus response, weather, staffing, and other situations that may arise. If Calvert Nature Society or Calvert County Natural Resources Division cancels a program, a full refund will be issued.
