Looking to Get Your Feet Wet in Environmental Education?

Now hiring for Spring 2026 and Summer 2026

applications  Accepted now for  Spring and summer 2026 Internships

College juniors, seniors, and recent graduates needed for 2025/2026 internships.

  • Spring internship-March 16-June 5
  • Summer Internship-May 18-August 7

Spring Hours: mostly weekdays between 8:30am-3:00pm

Summer hours: mostly weekdays 9am-3pm but will vary based upon our summer camp schedule

Both internships may included occasional weekends, evenings, or overnights.  Average of 30 hours/week for 12 weeks.

Internships take place at the Calvert County nature parks and partner sites; interns must provide own transportation to park sites.

Spring  2026 will primarily be at Flag Ponds Nature Park.

Candidates should have knowledge of local natural history and experience working with children.

Duties include:

  • Environmental Education and Interpretation: Plan and lead public nature interpretation programs, may include: summer camps, pre-k classes, kayak trips, community outreach, scout groups
  • Wildlife monitoring projects as time allows
  • Park operations including animal care and garden and trail maintenance

Stipend of $2,000 through Calvert Nature Society

St. Mary's College Students may be eligible to received funding through St. Mary's College.

Selected candidates are required to pass a background check.

  • Feb 1, 2026 for spring
  • March 1, 2026 for summer
  • While both internships have established deadlines, applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

College students who cannot commit to a full internship can apply.

Available to college students who can only commit to one day (about 6 hours)/week for 12 weeks

Mini-Interns assist Naturalists in running CHESPAX field trips for elementary children and other programs as available.

Training will be provided, although experience working with children is helpful.

Fall 2025 field trips take place at the Calvert County nature parks and partner site; interns must provide own transportation to park sites.

Hours: Most fieldtrips are during weekdays, but some other opportunities may be on weekends or evenings. Mini-interns work approximately 6 hours per week.

This is a volunteer position.

St. Mary's College students may be able to receive funding through the college.

Selected candidates are required to pass a background check.
