All county government administrative offices are open to the public. County government employees and visitors will not be required to wear masks. Verify office locations and hours before visiting.

Group Programs

The naturalists are able to arrange special programs for groups--including schools, camps, adult, family, scouts, seniors. We require at least 30 days notice. Call 410-535-5327 to ask about scheduling a program.

These policies are for Naturalist-led Programs. Group rentals of Tom Wisner Hall, Picnic Pavilions or group camping have different fees and policies. Information can be found on the Rental page or by calling the office: 410-535-2661.

Group Policies

  • The Division of Natural Resources makes facilities available for private events in select county's nature parks.
  • Group reservations are subject to staff and facility availability.
  • A Group is defined as a number of people that are organized or otherwise coordinated in their visit to the park.
  • A Program is defined is a Naturalist-led or Ranger-led activity, park orientation, or other activity as approved by
  • designated Natural Resources Staff.
  • Groups that are advertising their program to the public must comply with the Calvert County Parks & Recreation Special Events Policy.
  • Group reservations are subject to staff and facility availability.
  • Requests for group programs should be made at least thirty (30) days prior to the event.
  • Any group of ten (10) or more visiting Battle Creek, must have a program and pay the applicable fees.
  • Any group of thirty (30) or more, or a group of any size traveling via bus, visiting Flag Ponds Nature Park, must have a program and pay the applicable fees.
  • Any group of thirty (30) or more visiting Kings Landing Park must either reserve a facility or have a program and pay the applicable fees
  • All program fees must be received at least two (2) weeks before the program.
  • Smaller groups may reserve a facility or arrange for a program.
  • Smaller groups may visit “on their own.” Availability of parking, facilities, and other park amenities is not guaranteed.
  • Any group paying a program fee will not pay the Flag Ponds Entrance Fee
  • Groups planned through an organization or business may still require additional paperwork.

Group Fees

Fees are determined by the size of the group, the ages involved, and the type of program requested. These fees do not include materials and supply fees or facility rental fees, if applicable.

Flip Flop Groups
Programs at two parks and switch sites after lunch. Minimum 2 hours, usually 5 hours total, including lunch.

Group Kayak Trips
  • $15 per member; $30 per nonmember with a $150 minimum. 
  • Maximum 15 people.
  • Minimum age: 9 years old to paddle a double kayak; 12 years old to paddle a single kayak.
  • One adult per child required.
