Registration

For children entering grades 6-8 in Fall 2023

Not all who wander are lost! This camp will have ambitious hikers exploring Calvert County nature parks on foot. Campers will learn basic hiking safety and play trail games while enjoying the sights along the way. Campers will also learn outdoor survival skills such as tracking, shelter building, and orienteering. We will end the week with an overnight camping trip to western Maryland where we will hike the rock maze at Garrett State Forest, see the beauty of Swallow Falls State Park and conquer Hoye-Crest, Maryland's highest peak!

Fee per camper:  Society members: $280; Nonmembers: $310

Daily Schedule:

Monday - Wednesday: 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Daily
Thursday: Drop off at 9:30 a.m. (overnight trip to Potomac-Garrett State Forest campground)
Friday: Pick up at 3:30 p.m.

Location: Daily drop off and pick up at at Flag Ponds Nature Park in Lusby, MD.  Campers will be driven to a variety of locations throughout the week in a county vehicle.

COVID Policies and Procedures

The Calvert Nature Society has developed policies and procedures for public program operations based on state and CDC guidelines.

Please consider the safety, health, and well-being of all participants in our programs and stay home if the participant(s) are ill. Full refunds will be given for cancellations due to health concerns.

Prior to participation in any Society sponsored program, we will ask each individual, if under 18 a parent, to agree to the participant waiver. The waiver agreement needs to be completed for each in-person program.

The schedule of events is subject to changed based on the status of the coronavirus response, weather, staffing, and other situations that may arise. If Calvert Nature Society or Calvert County Natural Resources Division cancels a program, a full refund will be issued.
