Welcome to Camp letter and packing list here

For children entering grades 6-8 in Fall 2023

This week we will explore all things aquatic while learning the basics of getting around on the water safely.  We will use a variety of watercraft to get us out onto and INTO these wild water habitats - investigating with nets, water quality testing equipment – and our senses. The last 2 days of the week will be an overnight adventure to western Maryland – including a guided canoe experience with local guides, rafting on the Shenandoah River, and camping overnight.

Registration fee includes camp water bottle, all outfitter fees and equipment needed, Thursday snacks, dinner and campfire with s'mores, and Friday breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Campers will each need a separate outfitter waiver form for each day of the overnight - canoeing on Thursday and rafting on Friday.  Waivers will be filled out online in June - link will be emailed to participants.

Naturalist in Charge: Tania Gale

Fee per camper: Society members:  $400; Nonmembers: $430

Daily Schedule

Monday-Wednesday: 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

COVID Policies and Procedures

The Calvert Nature Society has developed policies and procedures for public program operations based on state and CDC guidelines.

Please consider the safety, health, and well-being of all participants in our programs and stay home if the participant(s) are ill. Full refunds will be given for cancellations due to health concerns.

Prior to participation in any Society sponsored program, we will ask each individual, if under 18 a parent, to agree to the participant waiver. The waiver agreement needs to be completed for each in-person program.

Please read our full policy statement and waiver.

Registration Opening Dates

Programs have staggered registration dates. We advertise programs before registration opens which is why you may see that registration is closed, yet there are spaces available.  See details >

The schedule of events is subject to changed based on the status of the coronavirus response, weather, staffing, and other situations that may arise. If Calvert Nature Society or Calvert County Natural Resources Division cancels a program, a full refund will be issued.
